Magritte sau "poetul viselor", unul dintre principalii reprezentanti ai suprarealismului in pictura. Încă din tinereţe, Magritte îşi pune imaginaţia sa neobişnuită în slujba penelului, care îi permite să-şi transforme visele şi viziunile în tablouri. 
Pictura lui Magritte este o reflectare a gândirii sale misterioase ce se bazează pe întâlnirea minunată şi neaşteptată dintre irealitate şi cotidian.
Intre anii 1920-1967 picteaza aproximativ 1000 de tablouri, o veritabila sursa de inspiratie pentru generatiile viitoare de artisti.

"Les Amants", tablou a carui sursa de inspiratie o reprezinta sinuciderea mamei sale .

cred ca la magritte devine un leit motiv asunderea fetei  - implicit a identitatii - fie prin suprapunerea unui obiect, fie prin personaje care stau cu spatele la privitor.

sau ca in cazul primei lucrari pe care ne-ai prezentat-o - prin acoperirea fetelor

de ce suntem doar noi la topicu asta?...mie mi se pare magritte cel mai interesant dintre suprarealisti...mult mai subtil si (de ce nu?) mai bun decat dali - parerea mea.

Habar n-am de ce doar noi 2 il comentam pe magritte :).

O alta ferestra deschisa spre cunoastere "Call of the peaks".

Este fascinat de spatiile deschise, de inaltimi, de cerurile senine....Un tip interesant.

Spre furia unor critici, Rene Magritte a refuzat adesea sa spuna cum lucra si de ce apareau anumite lucrari. Pentru el picturile sale erau imagini vizibile care nu ascund nimic, dar evoca misterul si trezesc o intrebare legitima : ce reprezinta ? Tot el dadea un raspuns interesant : Nu reprezinta nimic, pentru ca misterul nu inseamna nimic, nu poate fi conceput si cunoscut...:)

"Ceci n'est pas une pipe"(1928-1929)care se afla La Los Angeles Country Museum of Art.
Pe un ocru aproape fara umbre este pictata o pipa imensa(tabloul are 60x81 cm),iar la baza lucrarii scrie titlul "Aceasta nu este o pipa",contrazice realitatea ,iti spune sa nu confuzi ce vezi cu pipa reala si tangibila.Este unul din cele mai celebre picturi ale lui Magritte si pune in discutie conceptul definitiei si al reprezentari.Nu totul este ceeace pare,lanseaza un atac la modul in care privim si gandim
